Engineered Slopes

Neoloy® Tough-Cells protect exposed engineered slopes from erosion while stabilizing the surface layer. The system confines topsoil, aggregate or concrete and helps resist slope surface degradation caused by rainfall and runoff.

Project Validation: Hindhead Tunnel, A3, UK

At the A3 Hindhead Tunnel, complex cut slopes reached 14–21 m high with inclinations of 45°–80°. The project required permanent erosion control, reliable surface stabilization, and a vegetated finish that blended with the surrounding landscape.

The engineered solution combined soil nails, steel mesh, and anchored Neoloy® Tough-Cells. Most areas were filled with topsoil and hydroseeded, while the steepest portal sections used shotcrete infill for durable hard-armour protection.
