Our Story – Neoloy Technology

It all started a long time ago… For thousands of years different cultures have used different techniques to strengthen soil. The Mayas, for instance, used branches to build roads over swamps more than 4000 years ago. Geocells were developed in the late 1970’s by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to land heavy equipment on sandy beaches of Vietnam. The first geocells were made of cardboard, cloth, aluminum and eventually plastic. 

The first generation of geocells, made from HDPE in the 1980s, was originally designed for temporary military use and later adopted for commercial applications. However, it lacked the reinforcement and durability needed for long-term infrastructure. 

Since 2004, PRS has led a groundbreaking R&D initiative with leading geotechnical experts and global institutes to develop Neoloy®, a Novel Polymer Alloy (NPA) engineered for unmatched long-term performance. Validated through hundreds of tests, studies, and real-world applications worldwide – including Japan (Seismic Wall Resistance), Germany (Large Box Test), and the US (Moving Wheel Test) and certified by global standards such as ISO, ASTM, the US Federal Highway Administration and more – Neoloy Tough-Cells are the only geocells proven to provide high tensile strength, dynamic modulus, elastic stiffness, and resistance to plastic deformation.

  • Enables use of local sand & recycled materials, making it stronger than gravel and comparable to semi-bound materials.

PRS optimizes the Geocell properties for specific project requirements and pavement configurations. PRS manufactures both HDPE (soft-cells) and Neoloy (tough cells) and supplies each according to their application types.  

PRS has its own geocell factory to ensure high-capacity production at the highest quality standards. 

In this facility,PRS can produce over 200 containers per month, making it the largest geocell manufacturer in the world.
